This Selway Fisher, with some modifications to the bow and with a curved transom, 22ft foot slipper launch named ‘Graciela’ after student Will Hide’s girlfriend. Of stitch and tape construction, with a 9mm elite ply hull and subdeck, a sapele deck and fitting out and with an electric engine and Lloyd Loom chairs ‘Graciela’ had been built to glide along the River Dart near Will’s home.
Electric Slipper Launch
This beautiful electric slipper launch was built by Will Hyde at the Lyme Regis Boatbuilding Academy in 2012. She was sold to her first owner in 2013 who lived in Thames Ditton and kept her at Thames Boat House (Walton Marine). A cover and canopy was added to protect occupants from the variable British summer weather. She was sold to the current owner in 2017 who upgraded the steering system to wire and replaced all the batteries and reconditioned the motor in 2020. The boat was used to cruise mainly around Hampton to Richmond whilst in Walton, and Marlow to Henley.
All batteries, cables and majority of electrics replaced including a reconditioned motor and bearing by the fabulous team at The Thames Electric Launch Company (£6K invoice). All fettled and tested on the water in October before being dry stored over the winter. Now ready for new owner
