Brief History from Owner

Brief History of our Ownership of Vessel ‘Sabre Tooth’

Sabre Tooth was purchased on 11th August 2001 on its berth on the River Hamble, Southampton.

Whilst moored on the Hamble various passages were undertaken.  On many occasions to the Isle of Wight (IOW), Poole, Weymouth, France and to the Channel islands.  Also whilst on the mooring many updates and improvements were made: master volt invertor and charger, a new Mase generator, Raymarine radar and chart plotter, satellite television dome and VHF radios.

Sabre Tooth left the Hamble on 26th September 2011 and arrived at the slipway in Oxford on 4th October 2011 for her works programme.  Works included: replacement of both toilets, removal and reseal of all windows, repair and spray of awe grip GRP paint, paint of hull and superstructure, antifoul, replacement of rudder and prop anodes with sea suitable, exhaust originally exited midships.  A previous owner routed the exhausts to transom via an aluminium shroud, this was unsatisfactory due to corrosion of fixings and the need to fit guards to protect her when lifting out.  These were removed and exhausts routed internally.  Both prop shafts were sea water cooled and worn causing excessive dripping (no grounding in our ownership).  Both prop shafts were replaced due to wear, stuffing boxes repacked and two heavy duty remote greasers fitted, props were also dressed.  New cutlass bearings were fitted.

Part of her refurbishment  included the replacement of saloon seating.

Both port and starboard engines were removed for overhaul and sent to SB Engineering Ltd. Works included: strip down, glaze busted, new piston rings, new oil pumps, top overhaul, value grinding etc., fuel pumps and injectors sent away for service.  For full details contact Steve Bill 07970 506674.

The radar arch can be removed or tilted back to enable her to go under certain bridges.

Sabre Tooth left the slipway on 24th December 2012 and arrived at St Katherine Docks, London on 27th October 2012 and stayed in St Katherine Docks until her departure on 24th October 2020.

All batteries were renewed before departure from St Katherine Docks and she arrived at Shepperton Marina on 25th October 2020.

Sabre Tooth’s approximate tanks sizes are; full 1200 litres, water 220 litres and holding tank 110 litres.

As far as we are aware all equipment works.

Life raft and fire extinguishers will need servicing.
